Yes!! The New Year!!

What promises will I break to myself this year?! Lol. I've been thinking about the plans I have for myself, when I will complete them, and how I will go about it. Believe you me I have BIG plans...starts with the lotto and ends with children (just kidding). All the planning in the world means nothing without action. Simple concept, yes, but if it were that simple, we'd all probably be in a different place right now. I know I would. I am a victim of thinking to long about a thing before acting on it.

For some, action takes that something you never thought would happen; it takes that someone you never thought would leave; it takes you being sick and tired for the LAST time of accepting status quo (silent plug for quitting your job, unless you love what you do); it's that one look in the mirror to say "I want more. I can have more. I deserve better. Today is the last day I settle." There are things that will come in and knock the wind out of your sails. Get back up.

I'm excited every day because it's another opportunity to get it right. I look forward to the new year, new ideas, new experiences, and seasoned FRIENDS. Thank God for consistency of supportive people that help you to reach your level. Our quote today is from the Bible children. Get this one in you:

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
- Jermiah 29:11 (NIV)

Random Wednesday

Hello, Hello, Hello!!!

How excited are you to be here?!! Very excited?? I knew you would be! Do I have something awesome to share with you...I do! It's not my news, but it's someone's.

My co-worker just found out she's pregnant!! Can you dig it!?!
Someone else, who I don't know -but it was shared with me, just got a promotion to lead of a new team.
My friend's wife just graduated with her Master's Degree. We LOVE graduations!

Why am I so happy about what they've got going on? Because it's not about me. We need to remember to sincerely celebrate the accomplishments and milestones of others. God is passing out goodness everywhere, and we can't just get happy when our turn hits.

If you're week has been trying, step back and regroup. Think on something funny, drink some hot cocoa (I'm anti-coffee!!). If you know someone else who is being stretched beyond their limitations, give them a call to let them know you have them on your mind. Give them an opportunity to let their hair down. Be a safe outlet.

Be love in the eyes of someone else and watch what comes back to you.

Be safe, be well, find a reason to burn some calories today...laughing!

You know I love quotes:

“The test we must set for ourselves is not to march alone but to march in such a way that others wish to join us.”
- Hubert Humphrey

Have a wonderful rest of the week,

STOP SLEEPING

I used to love sleep. I believed in going to bed around 9pm and waking up at 5am (cause I HAVE to see the sunrise). Others I know would be up until all hours of the night, 3am and 4am, however could easily sleep until noon. We’re both getting the same amount of sleep, just on different schedules. So the real question is what is being accomplished when we’re awake.

People spend at least a third of their waking hours at work. In most instances, this is a job they either don’t like, do because they have for so long, or work out of necessity. Personal time is further limited when spouses (housework, yard work, dinner, etc.), children (homework, practices, lessons, etc.), and group commitments (birthday parties, sporting events, professional organizations, church ministries, volunteer work, etc.) are involved. By the way, did you notice how many times ‘work’ was attached to the other facets of the day?

Work in the traditional sense is removed when you love what you do. You love your children, so the things you do with them will be an opportunity to spend time with them. You love your spouse, so the things you do for them is to show them you care, give you an opportunity to learn them/grow with them. It is still work but you enjoy doing it and you would probably be miserable if it was all taken away from you. Most people strongly desire to find this pleasure in all their work, but seldom do. Are you doing what you are good at? Is your occupation that one job you would consider doing, even without pay, because it is what you love doing? What do you love to do?

When you find what drives you, what wakes you up in the middle of the night with a new idea, what makes sleep an accident (passing out from exhaustion), you will be on your way to maximizing your time, ability, and the opportunities around you. It may require you to spend more time than any job you've worked in your life. You may even find your self doing it as a volunteer with no tangible benefits to yourself. Does it sound like something worth searching for and having in your life? So what are you waiting for? Stop wasting time doing that which does not bring you joy and satisfaction.

My suggestion, seek your maker to reveal to you the God given talent that lies in you and when He reveals it to you… use it to bless others. In fact, sometimes it is revealed to us through our efforts to help someone else realize and accomplish their dreams.

A Blog…Really??

Not me. Not for real. Just not my thing…however, I do like to talk, share what’s on my mind, and dialogue with others. Maybe this isn’t so bad.

I’m going through a thing right now where I would like to obedient (FINALLY!!) in the steps I take towards my future. This includes my career/business choices, how I help other people, and how I serve to accomplish the purpose I have to do while I’m here Rockin’ Out in my day-to-day life. I can’t be so blind to the needs of others or focused on my own desires that I miss out on where I am suppose to effect change. It takes a lot to remove the illusion of power from our hands and put in the hands of the One who has total control.

So, I’m a junky for positive quotes and today’s “episode” was about the power to be courageous in the face of challenges…how ironic. It states that one should be courageous to work on their weaknesses when situations find them, instead of trying to dodge or escape the problem. That’s inspiration enough for today.

Because of my affinity with quotes…I will be sure to leave one just for you…
